Yorkeys Knob Winter Progression Camp 2019
Awesome Winter Progression Camp
Warm water, wind and sunshine. What more can you ask for?
14 kiters of various levels joined Fiona and George in Yorkeys this year for a week of intense tuition and water time. With some riders spending 3-4 hours a day on the water, we saw fantastic progression happening at lightning speed.
Some riders were learning to consistently board ride, while others learnt about using edge control and stance to hold power, control speed and handle choppy or wave conditions. Everyone learnt just how important these skills are to the next stage of progression (from jumps to toeside riding).
We had a few on the water who just took the opportunity to take a break from their busy work schedule and kite until dusk each day; including foilboarding.
We started the week with a safety briefing on pack down and self rescue and during the week helped fine tune launching and landing techniques to ensure safe independent kiting for the future.
Every day offered up wind and shallow water in the lagoon at the point at Yorkeys Knob and after four days on the water the whole crew were ready for a day trip to Port Douglas.
